Work-Life Balance: It's time for a new paradigm

As working professional women, we are taught to strive for work-life balance. We are told that this is essential to a happy and fulfilling life. However, this pursuit often has the opposite effect, and we end up feeling stressed out and exhausted. In this talk, we will discuss the problems with work-life balance and outline an alternative approach to finding joy in all aspects of our lives.

Learning Objectives

• Understand how trying to achieve work-life balance can contribute to burnout.
• Learn how to identify and utilize your personal core values to increase joy and fulfillment in your personal and work life.
• Identify limiting beliefs and learn how to incorporate deliberate mindset shifts to create more time and space in your life for the things that matter most to you.

Guest Speaker:

Suzana Tsao, M.D., is Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine, Vice-Chair of Education for the Department of Emergency Medicine, and Co-Director for the Perelman School of Medicine's Virtual Health System at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to her clinical and administrative duties, she is trained as a life coach and works with professional working moms to declutter their days to create a life that they love. She spends her time in a perfectly unbalanced manner, with her two children, husband, family, friends, and pursuing her passions both in and outside of work.
