Winter 2024 - Wayne State University
Winter 2024
Welcome

Welcome

I would like to express my gratitude to all our partners and colleagues who contributed to the success we achieved last year. Our Transfer Success and Recognition Summit was a wonderful opportunity to welcome more than 100 community college, educational, and community partners to our campus to hear from the State of Michigan and other educational leaders about how we can collaborate more effectively. We’re excited to take the momentum from the summit into this year’s initiatives.

In addition, we have other exciting highlights to share with you:

  • Fall enrollment
    • Welcomed the largest new transfer class in the state of Michigan.
    • Had a 14.8% increase in new transfers representing diverse backgrounds.
  • Student success
    • Scheduled over 2,100 transfer student success appointments through the Transfer Student Success Center (TSSC).
    • Achieved an 84.4% second-year retention rate and 69% four-year graduation rate for new full-time transfer students.
    • Created a transfer admission partnership program so students not initially admitted to Wayne State can begin their academic careers at a community college.
  • Partnerships and collaborations
    • Launched 55 new transfer pathways.
    • Piloted a new transfer student internship program providing stipends to students in unpaid internships, ensuring they can participate in career development regardless of their financial situation.

As always, we want your feedback, so please keep in touch with us. We think this is going to be another great year!

With Warrior pride,

Michael Quattro, Director of Educational Outreach and Transfer Initiatives, Wayne State University
