Wayne State University

Dear Students,

Congratulations to everyone from the class of 2025 who has already passed the Step 2 exam! For those who are preparing to take Step 2, in response to peer feedback, we would like to let you know of the following supports available to you during this phase of Step 2 studying:

1. Increased Availability of Step 2 Practice Exam Vouchers.  We are in an unusually fortunate situation in which there are additional vouchers for CK Step 2 Practice Exams paid for by WSUSOM for you to utilize.  Students may each use one free voucher, with a second possible on a first come basis.  If use of these practice exam voucher(s) would be helpful during your Step 2 preparation, please reach out to Ms. Sharon Taylor as she is coordinating their processing.  She can be reached at: Olt@med.wayne.edu Please note that there is no re-imbursement available for practice exams paid for directly by students, so please be sure to utilize the vouchers.

2. Check-Ins to Gauge Readiness to Take Step 2.  A multi-disciplinary team which includes Dr. Mukhungo and/or Dr Booker from OLT, and Mrs. Robichaud and/or Dr. Waineo from Student Affairs will be available for drop-in sessions Tuesdays at noon to answer your questions about Step 2 preparation strategy, personal wellness, and exam readiness. The zoom link is below, with the first drop-in scheduled on Tuesday, June 18 at 12pm.  We hope to see you there!

Students will be able to ask questions to the group or discuss individual questions privately in a break-out room.  The drop-in sessions will be continued next month if they are utilized by students.

3. Discussion of Step 2 Impacts on Residency Applications.  Individualized guidance will be provided during your forthcoming MSPE meetings, where you will have the opportunity to discuss your Step 2 score during a holistic approach to your application.  MSPE meetings begin this month and continue through the summer – look out for an email from Ms. Tracey Eady who coordinates scheduling of these meetings for all students.  Dr. Kouyoumjian’s weekly drop-in sessions (Thursdays at noon) to support your residency applications will begin in July, and more information will be sent out about these highly utilized drop-ins later this month by Mrs. Mayweather.

We hope that the supports outlined above will be helpful for you during your exam preparation.  On behalf of the multidisciplinary team including the Offices of Curricular Affairs, Student Affairs, OAACQI, and Learning and Teaching, we wish you all the best.
