MAPs are back!

Find out what your students think about your course with the OTL’s Mid-Semester Assessment Program (MAP)! Completing a MAP allows you to:

  • explore the perceptions of your students
  • make one or two small adjustments to your course while it is still in progress
  • consider future changes based on that feedback

During a MAP, you are partnered with an OTL consultant who creates a confidential online survey you share with your students to obtain anonymous feedback. The consultant reviews and organizes the responses prior to your MAP debrief in which you discuss the results together. A MAP can have a big impact on your students’ learning, but also helps you plan the rest of the semester with the needs of your current students in mind.

What instructors say about the MAP experience:

“I always find ways to improve after each MAP. I use it almost each semester.”

“I’ve learned a lot from working with OTL team about how to improve the technology in my classes."

“It's good to get a sense of the pulse of the class before it is over."

“MAP has provided me with valuable insight into the feedback received from my students, and strategies on how to utilize the feedback going forward."

How to participate:

  1. You can register now for a MAP! Data collection will take place virtually with surveys being open for one week between Sept. 23 and Nov. 1 (with alternative dates available for classes on non-traditional schedules).

  1. After you register, an OTL consultant will reach out to you to schedule a brief conversation about how your class is going so far and the MAP process itself.

  1. The OTL consultant will set up the survey in Qualtrics for you to share with your students and schedule a follow-up meeting with you to discuss student feedback.

We look forward to working with you this semester!
