School of Medicine - Wayne State University

Dear WSUSOM Students,

Life as a physician in training can be both fulfilling and stressful – in every class year.  This week marks the completion of HBF 1 for the class of 2028, HDF 2 for the class of 2027, the second clerkship block for the class of 2026, and the final countdown days to the residency application due date for the class of 2025.  You have accomplished so much!

As we focus on taking care of others, it’s important to also take care of ourselves.  As always, your class counselor is your direct point of contact for mental health support and resources. In addition, we are pleased to tell you about a new mental health treatment resource available to WSUSOM students.

Marvin Behavioral Health is a national telemedicine psychotherapy treatment service, co-founded by two physicians, which provides access to licensed, experienced therapists trained to specifically support the mental health needs of healthcare workers – including an understanding of the unique needs of medical students.

This service offers:

  • Expert support from top-rated therapists (MD, PhD/PsyD, Masters-level clinicians)
  • Individual, couples, and family therapy
  • Ability to request therapist preference, including race, gender, and language
  • High accessibility including evening and weekend sessions, all virtual
  • Expedited time from initial reach-out to first appointment
  • Insurance coverage in-network with most plans, with low average copays
  • Ensures 100% confidential treatment, separate from WSUSOM
  • 24/7 free crisis support line at 888-404-1163

We care about you and encourage you to use Marvin as a resource to take care of yourself.  Additional mental health treatment resources are included in the familiar, attached infographic.

I hope this confidential treatment resource fits your needs through a new and accessible option!

For everyone in the class of 2028, 2027, and 2026, we wish you all the very best during your upcoming wellness week and the start of your next courses and clerkships.  For everyone in the class of 2025, we wish you the very best at the start of residency interview season and look forward to Match Day!
