Dear Wayne State community, I’m writing to update you on the tragic loss of our colleague, Sharif AliDinar, who passed away on January 8 as a result of a vehicle-pedestrian accident on campus. Sharif was a financial aid officer in Enrollment Management, working in the Office of Student Affairs in the Medical School and a beloved member of our Warrior family. We mourn his passing. Sharif was a longtime, active and enthusiastic member of our campus community. He joined Wayne State as a student financial aid expert in 2009 after graduating from the university with a bachelor’s in business administration, accounting and finance. Sharif was known for his professionalism, dedication and strong work ethic. He earned respect and appreciation from our students as he assisted them in their efforts to secure and manage financial aid. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he brought positivity and joy to everyone who had the privilege of working with him. Sharif's kind heart, generous spirit and unwavering support for others will be profoundly missed. Those interested in honoring Sharif’s work and legacy can donate to the Student Emergency Fund, which provides short-term financial assistance for Wayne State students facing temporary hardship due to an unexpected situation. I know that this tragedy has deeply impacted many members of our community. If you need support, please remember resources are available for employees and students. As a community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Sharif’s family, friends and colleagues. Sincerely,
