Office of Housing & Residential Life - Wayne State University

Dear Campus Residents,

I’m writing to follow up on President Wilson’s message yesterday announcing the movement of all instruction and testing for the remainder of the fall semester to fully on-line.  Aside from this instructional change for a small percentage of courses, the rest of campus remains mostly unchanged by Governor Whitmer’s latest health department order:

  • Campus housing is open and will remain open as we have previously indicated.
  • Towers Café will remain open for in-person and to-go dining, including during Thanksgiving recess.
  • The Student Center, the UGL, and the Mort Harris Fitness Center will remain open during their regular posted hours.

The goal of the latest order is to enhance the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 during the upcoming holiday.  Please consider seriously whether you will go home for part or all of the recess. If you will be visiting off-campus, please implement the isolation and other mitigation strategies you need to be practicing before you go to protect those at your destination.  We are making it easy to stay on campus if you don’t want to risk a visit off-campus during the break – your on-campus housing will remain open and we are offering brunch and dinner each day during the Thanksgiving recess in Towers Café to those with meal plans at no additional cost to youMore information was shared last Friday regarding services available to you over the break.

Please stop by your front desk or talk to your Community Director if you have any questions about your housing and Thanksgiving Break arrangements.

We all need to keep doing our part at limiting the spread of COVID-19 as we wait for the pandemic to pass. Be Warrior Safe and Warrior Strong!
